Development of the market mechanism in Yugoslavia set up the problems for furniture manufacturers, which they are not able to solve by the present way of work. This especially refers to the realisation process. according to the plan, planning and development of products and in connection with this, to the whole developing policy of the firm. Introduction of marketing into organisational structure of the furniture manufactures would bring a notable change in their work activity. Connecting their business with the market demand (which is only possible by accepting marketing as the way of working) furniture producers would much better perform their social function, diminishing their business risk. It is advisable to introduce marketing gradually into firms, whose activity is the production of furniture. Smaller organisational unities can be formed (market investigation sector) whose task would be to initiate scientific and research as well as making conditions for the development of integral marketing. As there is the lack of the corresponding staff of the firm, they should ask for help the authorised professional organisations, which have acquired some positive experiences o n this field.
