Title:

Some possibilities of bark and wood wastes conversion briquetting

Research subject and fields:
Abstract:

This article underlines the necessity of examining the possibility of further conversion of bark and wood wastes with the purpose to obtain useful products. Based on information of the International Organization FAO and a study about utilization of wood wastes from forestry and timber-industrial production in SR Croatia, analyses on data of wastes have been made in the introductory part of this article.

The article further deals with the development of briquetting technique, basic characteristics of wooden briquettes, and the sphere of their usage. Since wooden briquettes represent a sort of fuel, analyses have been made in comparison with regular fuels in the houses, taking as a basis their thermal value.

Finally, essential characteristics and the course of the technological process and the standards for the capacity of production of about 15,000 tons ready-made briquettes per annum have been analyzed.
