Title:

Testing of some physical and mechanical properties of particleboards for production of furniture and interior applications

Research subject and fields:
Abstract:

Development of technology in particleboard manufacture resulted in production of good quality particleboards for interior and exterior applications. Quality of manufactured particleboards should be closely watched just so as the quality of any other product. Numerous research investigations are linked with test procedures of particleboard properties (35 properties), such as: general properties, physical properties, mechanical properties, technological properties and resistance to attack. Out of these properties the five most important properties have been tested: density, bending strength, tensile strength, screw holding power and swelling. To establish the influence of the sample size to test procedure and the difference among certain standards, investigations have been made in compliance with provisions of three standards: JUS, BS and ASTM. Some new methods of testing particleboards have been also mentioned giving reliable results on the quality of particleboards.
