Quality of sawing fir logs on frame-saws

The study examined quality of sawing fir logs on frame-saws at various sawing conditions. At cant sawing the height of cant was 120 mm and 345 mm respectively. The quality has been examined by the following characteristics: board thickness inaccuracy, board surface roughness, and board wedge tear-out. The results showed that the quality of sawing is becoming more inferior with the increase of numbers of sawn boards, with the increase of saw teeth dullness and with a higher saw kerf height.
