Abstract:
This paper presents causes of deterioration of beech roundwood for sleepers and of already manufactured railway sleepers. Staining and white rot are causes of deterioration in beech. The effect of these causes of deterioration on wood and its mechanical properties has been observed, as well as applicability of such raw material and sleepers in process of the impregnation.
