Abstract:
Forest roads belong to a special category; many references call them "low construction cost roads", which is suggestive of their specific character. Designs of forest roads have been reviewed with respect to safety and from the engineering, forestry, economic and biological standpoint. The results of the review are presented in order to determine the current safety of forest roads in exploitation.
