Title:

Physical and mechanical properties of Austrian pinewood

Research subject and fields:
Abstract:

In this work some macroscopic features, basic physical and mechanical properties of Austrian pinewood growing on a biotop site Crne Pode« typical for beech, have been investigated. To establish the effect on technological properties for this species from an atypical biotop site a comparison has been made with the data of the Austrian pinewood examined on the area of Bosnia, Serbia and Montenegro. It has been found out that on the site „Crne Pode« the pinewood has the density characteristic for Austrian pinewood, however this density is more result of presence of the compression wood than of resin. The resin on characteristic biotop site for pinewood has an effect on increase of density. The effect of compression wood in the pinewood from the site „Crne Pode" manifested differently on the strength properties.
