The comparison of shear strength of glued joint made by urea-formaldehyde and some mineral adhesives

The shear strength of urea-formaldehyde and mineral type of adhesives like silicates (waterglass) and silicate based »Pargal« (commercial name) in a glue joint have been investigated. Character of newly created fracture surfaces on the test specimens was studied. It was found that shear strength of silicate and silicate based adhesives is lower than that of organic synthetic adhesive like urea-formaldehyde. Study of surfaces created by fracture, brought some new informations.
