Abstract:
In the first [5] a new detail of corner connection of glulam portal frames has been shown theoretically which would substitute the conventional circularly placed connection bolts. Here we have described the testing done in the laboratory for the Technical Mechanics of the Institute for Civil Engeenering carried out on a sample in natural size, as well as the comparative results of numerical simulation carried out on a numerical finite element 3D model by the use of IBM ICES STRUDL 2 system. The results conform. The FE model has been later adapted to the actual observations of the lab tests. The imperfections of the test will be eliminated in additional lab investigations which are in progress.
