Research on production and mechanical properties of reactive polyurethane hot melt adhesives

The paper deals with the research on mechanical properties of the joints : wood-polyurethane hot melt glue-wood as well as in the following combinations : wood-plastics, and wood-metal, by application of various formulations of these glues. The influence of open time, pressure and water content on joint strength has been tested. The tests have been made also on the possibility of gluing various plastic materials, on resistance to higher and lower temperatures and on aging at a stable temperature. A comparative test on foam melt and compact glues has been carried out. The joint quality can be significantly influenced by a proper selection of gluing parameters.
