Abstract:

The article deals with the results obtained through researches on influence of species of wood on chipboard properties. Five species of deciduous wood mostly used in chipboard production have been used in testing. First, chipboards were made only of one type of wood and then of a mixture of various species so as to obtain an optimal mixture. On the basis of the shown results, the top quality chipboard can be obtained using a mixture of soft deciduous wood (poplar, alder) and oak in proportion 1: 1. As these species of wood can be at present supplied at lower prices than beechwood and hornbeam, thus the costs of wood raw material can be reduced by use of this wood in production. In the second stage of research, the consumption standards per board type is to be established in order to establish the actual financial effects.
