Research on the uniformity of air velocity distribution within timber stack in chamber kiln during drying process

Abstract:

This paper investigates the uniformity of air flow in over-head fan kiln. The aim of investigation was to determine the value of uniformity of air flow in production conditions and to compare them with the values achieved in some previous investigations of air flow. Values of air velocity are measured at 11 points along the way of air through the kiln, from the pressure side of the fan to the outgoing side of the stack. The coefficient of air uniformity distribution has been calculated from velocity data measured at 4 measuring point on the inlet side of the stack (in 6 zones) and 4 measuring points on the outlet side of the stack (in 6 zones). The coefficient of air uniformity distribution was worse 1.26% at the inlet side of the stack and 11.99% at the outlet side of the stack as compared to the results of previous investigation (3).
