Title:

3D geometric modelling of furniture

Research subject and fields:
Abstract:

This paper gives a brief review of computer visualization applied in furniture design. Introduction of this technique should be based on the data base allowing study of the model elements and of the whole model. Vir-tual 3D computer visualization in the interaction with digitalized, realistically made furniture and environment can help install the optimal and ergonomic design of furniture and determine its dimensions. Virtual simulation enables designing of optimal constructional solutions which provide active and dynamic sitting. The result is a relaxing bo-dily posture in sitting and compliance with all ergonomic, anthropometric, functional and technical requirements of furniture users. Purpose of the 3D simulation model is comfortable and safe sitting that incorporates all biome-chanical characteristics and interactions between the body and available new materials used to make this furniture. This is also a supplement to design and construction of the sitting furniture which help reduce the occurrence of poor-quality designs and the problems of physical diseases, conditions and pains.
