Comparative wood quality appreciation

Criteria for the appreciation of compact pieces of single wood species may be based upon various factors. Criteria for quality appreciation are usually determined by the knowledge of either physical and mechanical wood properties or of its macroscopic characteristics. For comparative appreciation of two or more wood species it is better to supply both criteria elements. The most accurate comparison of two or more wood species according to the criteria mentioned is that based upon the data of these species immediate examination. Another comparison possibility of two or more wood species from different geographical areas is that based upon the data of various authors investigations. The task of this work is to show how to compare the application characteristics of spacewood from USSR and of two home pinewood species.
